NSW: Lifesavers stop patrolling Sydney's beaches this weekend
This weekend will be the last of the summer for lifesavers patrolling Sydney's beaches.
Surf Life Saving Sydney says since September last year, lifesavers have performed 2,000rescues, warned more than 24,000 people swimming in dangerous areas and given medicalattention to more than 3,000 people.
They have also found more than 20 lost children.
The surf lifesavers were also used to evacuate people from Port Hacking at Sydney'sRoyal National Park during the Christmas bushfires.
A 24-hour Emergency Response Group will keep operating until September, when lifesaversresume their patrols.
